


These figures are V-band CCD images of the comet Holmes taken with TRISPEC/KANATA on 16:50 (UT) 29 Oct. The exposure time is 5 sec. Upper=North, Right=West.
Left figure: FOV=7'x7'.
Center figure: the same as the left one, with contours.
Right figure: FOV=2.17'x2.17', centered around the coma.

Interesting results on the interior detail! I also imaged this comet on the 30th 0900UT and found evidence of the same structures... see

Thanks for the info. and the beautiful images of Holmes at your site! In these days, the structure of the coma seems to be slightly misaligned with the direction of the ejected blob. Further monitoring is needed to reveal the evolution of the current outburst. Clear skies!
